"I recall with appreciation and joy how when my kids were very little and I was reading Torah for a service, probably for the first time. One of the kiddos wouldn't let me go up without them and wrapped themselves in the bottom of my tallis. Rather than trying to extricate myself from this determined child, It comforted me to be encouraged really, to simply walk up and have them there with me, enveloped so to speak, in love. Another time I was holding one who was very vocally not happy while I was at the bima. A congregant swooped in like an angel and gently took baby out of sight, soothing us all. I was so grateful. As a fairly new mom in a new environment, trying to find my place in this new life, I felt safe and welcome." - Tara Saltzman, longtime member
