7:00 PM - 8:30 PMMt Falcon West EntranceThere is much to grieve for of late. Tisha b’Av (9 th day of the lunar month of Av) is traditionally a fast day commemorating the destruction[s] of the ancient Temple[s] in Jerusalem, as well as other tragedies in Jewish history. At this gathering we will come to together to identify and mourn our many, collective losses of late. And we will reflect upon the root causes of the destruction and desecration of sanctuaries, social, national, spiritual, and environmental.
Meet at the WEST Trailhead of Mt. Falcon Park at 7 PM. Bring hiking apparel, water, and perhaps a candle and a camping chair (recommended).
Shortly after 7 PM, we will hike (@ 20 minutes or 0.5 miles, each way) from the WEST Trailhead down to the remains of the Walker House mansion.
At 7:30 PM, among the ruins, we will share melodies, a dialogue, some verses from the Book of Lamentations, and then a short Havdalah service (minus the spices and wine).
Around 8:30 Pm we will hike back to the parking lot at the trailhead (@ 20 minutes or 0.5 miles).
