Every year, CBE’s religious school and wider congregation participates in the Thanksgiving Mitzvah; packing family food boxes at the Action Center in Lakewood. 

Action Center supplies over 5,000 Thanksgiving Meals to families struggling with hunger, homelessness and income insecurity.  One day alone in which nearly 1,400 households need help to enjoy 1 meal of thanks.

Due to the pandemic, volunteers under 15 are no longer allowed in the warehouse.  Last year, in order to continue to support the needs of families served by the Action Center, Jesse Dorkin led a collection drive and packing day at CBE as part of his bar mitzvah project.  It was so successful, we’re inspired to do it again!
