With the rising cost of housing, many hardworking individuals in Jeffco, including teachers, nonprofit employees and firefighters, can no longer afford to live in the communities where they work. Learn what governmental and nonprofit agencies are doing to solve this affordable housing crisis at a workshop at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Congregation Beth Evergreen. Panelists are Jefferson County Commissioner Lesley Dahlkemper; Kristine Disney with the Jeffco Advocacy Network; and Salvinay Nathan, Community Impact Vice President of Colorado Gives Foundation. This free workshop is open to the public.

Lesley Dahlkemper was re-elected to a second term as a Jefferson County Commissioner in 2022 and is chair of the Board of County Commissioners. She serves on the Colorado Fire Commission and chairs the Gateway to the Rockies Regional Opioid Council and the Chatfield Watershed Authority. Lesley is treasurer of the Board of Directors for Colorado Counties, Inc. She is a member of the Jefferson County Housing Advocacy Steering Committee – in addition to other national, state, and local boards. Lesley  is the past president of the Jeffco school board.

The Jeffco Advocacy Network is a new non-partisan coalition of engaged residents and influential civic leaders advocating for impactful solutions for our community’s essential needs, deeper social connectedness, and economic prosperity. In 2024 the Network is focused on practical, meaningful, and immediate housing solutions. Kristine Disney is a 30-year resident of Wheat Ridge. She has served on several community focused boards and steering committees and is currently serving as the chair of the Wheat Ridge Planning Commission.

Savinay Nathan has a strong background in business, engineering, education and community involvement. Prior to joining the Foundation, he held leadership roles at Minds Matter Colorado, Denver Public Schools, and The Boeing Company. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, a Masters of Educational Leadership from The Broad Center and an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
